How much of the mooring is sticking up above the seabed?
The top of the mooring is aprox' 300mm above the seabed with the shock absorber rising up from there. At rest or without a boat on the mooring the shock absorber lowers to a horizontal position also aprox' 300mm above the seabed.

Is there any risk that my boat will hit any of the boats moored around it on dump weight moorings?
The Seagrass Friendly Moorings have the same or smaller swing area than a dump weight mooring so your boat will not come into contact with the boats around you.

What happens when there is a storm?
We set the mooring lines at the same length as a dump weight mooring so that in a storm the angle that your boat is pulled at is the same as a normal mooring. This means that the chance of waves washing over the bow of your boat is the same as with a dump weight mooring.

Can my Seagrass Friendly Mooring shift?
This type of mooring is fixed in place, so that if there is a storm your mooring can not shift, if a boat moored on a dump weight around yours does drag their dump weight, their vessel may encroach your swing area. We see this after nearly every storm now, where one dump weight mooring will drag and another dump weight mooring near it doesn't and the boats hit. Then the battle is to work out who's mooring is the one which caused all the damage.

Is a scuba diver needed to install or to service this type of mooring?
No, the Seagrass Friendly Mooring system has been designed so that it can have the installation and servicing done from a work barge.

I normally do my own mooring servicing, can I still service my own mooring if I use one of these type ?
Yes you can. We have a closed loop process where you can buy a serviced top, shock absorber and mooring line. You then can unbolt the top of your mooring and bolt on the replacement top, connect the mooring line to your marker buoy, then send the old one back to us for servicing.

How often do I need to service my Seagrass Friendly Mooring?
We recomend that the mooring is serviced on an annual basis.

What if I accidently cut the mooring line?
We record the gps location of the mooring when it is installed plus the mooring line, unlike chain, does not sink into the seabed so it is more easily recovered.
